Museum Gadget

This Flash-based interface represents a 3D hologram viewer of the type that might
be available to a museum of technology in 2020. It shows hologram-style visualisations of various electrical components, and allows their rotation,
X, Y and Z positions to be manipulated.

Online Wormianum

This website gives online access to the contents of a fictional museum exhibition.

All photographs and 3D models were produced by members of Edinburgh University's DDM MSc group.

Wasro.com

My main focus while working at Abraxor was Wasro, a job listings website.

I developed the project from scratch, from the initial stages of data modelling and interaction planning through to the actual production of the site's back-end logic, presentation code and graphics.

Site viewers benefit from several useful features like browsing jobs by category, subcategory or tag. An advanced search feature offers great control over the results returned.

An administration area provides several levels of access. Wasro staff can manage almost anything: job listings, categories and subcategories, job tags, user accounts and page content. Registered employers can manage their profile details, job listings and payments. Registered job-seekers can manage their profile details, stored CVs and listings of interest.

Gold.org Document Management System

Working for Abraxor, I was asked to redevelop a document management system used by World Gold Council staff across the world.

The system was redeveloped in two forms. Traffic Lights allows administrators to establish a set of documents for any given month. Staff can check these documents out for editing, making them inaccessible to others as they do so. The amended documents can then be checked in, at which point data is synchronised between each document in the set.

The Quarterly Reports System extended this functionality by allowing for more complex relationships between documents. Locking behaviours were not only controlled by the period under which the document was filed, but also by other assigned parameters such as its international department.

Eyeline Website

With a user-friendly content management system, this website gives the client total control over all content. The products catalogue is totally customisable. Product listings and their associated categories, images, datasheets and descriptions can be added, edited and deleted. Other content, such as that in the About Us and Certificates sections, is also fully customisable.

The site offers visitors a user-friendly, searchable catalogue, with high resolution images, detailed specifications and other product information.

Priory Park Website Relaunch

This began as a university project back in 2005, and was a significant part of my final-year workload at university.

In the autumn of 2006, Priory Park asked me to extend the functionality of the website in the hope of gaining greater control over its content.

The result is a customised content management system that makes all sections of the site editable, including news stories, price and events listings, gallery items and contact information. No specialist software is required to make changes - it can all be done with a standard web browser - and no programming knowledge is required.

Much of the content produced for the original site has been brought forward, including gallery images, promotional videos and interactive Flash-based content.

Portfolio Website for a Project Manager

Emma wanted a sleek and simple website to showcase her project management skills. She also requested that she be able to update content herself without the need for web design software.

Future Customer Solutions Website

Future Customer Intelligence Solutions are a consultancy firm specialising in customer service analysis and staff training.

As well as something attractive and informative for website visitors, the Future team requested a content management system to allow them to make updates to the website themselves. The most important site content is available for quick and easy editing through a web browser, avoiding the need to contact me each time there's a small update to be made.

convergence06 Exhibition

NTU's Multimedia BA (Hons) graduation exhibition, convergence06, allowed all graduating students to showcase their work and was open to the public between June 17th and 21st, 2006.

Alongside three others, I formed the exhibition's management team, which meant taking a leading role in exhibition organisation over a 5-month period. This involved co-ordinating over a hundred students by assigning roles and arranging meetings, as well as taking a hands-on role in things like online and offline promotion, exhibition space allocation and aquisition of materials and technology.

The exhibition was a good chance to act as a key figure in a large project involving many people.

Priory Park Promotional Package

This was a significant part of my workload during 2006. The aim was to hand over an integrated promotions pack to a real client, owner of Priory Park Karting Circuit, that included a range of printed materials, a promotional DVD and a website.

The project allowed exploration of a wide range of disciplines, including video and audio production, photography, graphic design and web development with PHP, CSS and HTML.

The finished package was exhibited at the NTU BA (Hons) Multimedia exhibition in June 2006.

Grassroots Media Investigation

An examination of grassroots media was another significant project completed during my undergraduate final year. A written report investigates what it is, how it came about, what technologies drive it and what impact it has on other media.

The project implements some of the techniques and practices outlined in the research. Distributed as a media-rich document in PDF and HTML Help formats, written content is augmented with embedded video interviews and other interactive content, all of which has been produced using grassroots techniques. Relevant distribution techniques such as BitTorrent are also employed.

The accompanying website is the main focus point for the project. A live version of the entire report is available there, incorporating streaming video and wiki functionality. In keeping with grassroots principles of openness and accessibility, source files relating to the project are also available for download.

'Project Owl' Audio Production Project

This audio production project was part of my year two undergraduate syllabus. The CD comprises two tracks, the first being a live recording of Angel in Ballet Shoes. The second is a remix of that track, the production of which allowed the group to be far more experimental in terms of recording and editing techniques.

'Fly' Video Production Project

'Fly' was a video project with a very broad brief. Working in a group of five, we opted for a short thriller format.
